My whole family sails. 3 brothers and a sister,"poor thing" any ways my other brother rebuilt a 1935 Ludders. He has been kicking butt racing that thing to the ground. I love it. Full keel and just feels old school. So this weekend was the Commodore's cup . It started at noon so we left the slip at 10. to makes sure we made it on time "no motor". On the way out we saw our nemeses. The other Ludder and our arched enemy. The competition gets crazy with this stuff. They where ahead of us. And we where running late. Neither one of us where going to make the start on time. Ha yea like that mattered. We watched to see what they where gona do, sure nuff off they went thinking we'd just bail maybe. Na.... not us. So we start maybe 5 minute behind.
By the way it was a perfect sailing day in San Diego. That made it a bit easier. We chased and chased and chased. Made some good ground on the up hill gained a bit more on the spinney run then neck and neck to the second to last mark. We took the lead. It was a drag race down the San Diego bay channel. I mean tuning every three seconds!! There it was the last mark maybe two boat lengths ahead we had it !!! Yea !!! " we are NOT going to all tore course" said the damn 100 ft. Bait Boat. Shit!! We had it and had to round back around a 360 and pow! They where ahead 200 ft the the finish. Oh my we pushed that little boat so hard but missed it buy half a boat length. High fives on the other boat and the gentle sound of beer cans in ours. Some days ya just can't win. But in a weird way we did anyway. I mean what the hell we where sailing.

hey... was that race on sunday? we saw some boats like that one racing when we came back from the coronados.
Sure was. I kept an eye out for you guys. The larger boats had to round the islands. We did the inside 12 mile around the old Navy bouy. South end of IB. Did you guys have fun? Are you water logged and sunburnt?
