Look what I got

Merry Christmas,
The Santa dude dropped off one of the prettiest morning's Ive seen here!! All for me. I knew I've been a good boy but I never expected anything this grand!!
Last night I was all hummm oh well may as well go to bed. My daughters at her mum's. But then in true boater fashion a friend went rowing by and we went over to MC's boat. http://raghaulers.blogspot.com/. It was a friend Adams Birthday so we all walked up to San Diego's oldest pub.http://www.waterfrontbarandgrill.com/ to Celebrate the Birth of both. None of us went off the deep end but had a lot of fun. Then as I'm crawling out of the dink another Boat buddy came by for a quick howdie and a tip. Finally safe on board I'm all crawling into my flannels to wait for Santa, and I get a call from a landlubber friend. " hey what ya doing how come your not here for the party?" I'm like what party? "the one we have every year ahole get over here" Im all "huh? shit! Bike downtown? in my pajamas?" "yea, Kitos get yer ass over here now!" I declined because I could tell they had reach the edge of the dock and where getting ready to go deep. has much as I'm bummed I missed them I'm stoked I feel great today. I'm sneaking up to the burbs and kidnapping my daughter tonight. After I totally fill myself on Grandma's cooking. I was invited so I'm going! but first I have to scrub this little tub up for company. We will probably sail tomorrow and pull into Captain Morgans port in the afternoon. I can't wait. I love spending time with Ashy. She's a free spirit just like her Pop.

Christmas Party

Last night I was invited to a Hoboater Christmas Party. One of the gals here has a boat and a house. And she invited a few of us over for drinks and food. Very nice indeed. It has been over a month or so since I've been in a HOUSE. And maybe longer for some of the others. Yes, switch's that made light, another one that made heat. Ceilings you can't touch, a strange box in one of the rooms with cold stuff in it another made things hot. The same room had a bucket in the counter with a knob that produced hot water. And big doors, lots of em. There was another room that had a bucket and a lever on the side that made the water swirl around and disappear, then new water came back in. It had these things on the wall that had some dude living in it, he scared me. She also had a hole in the wall that had fire in it. One room had a cot big enough to put 5 people in it. This house had huge hatches with screens. It even had a mini house attached to the back with a bunch of stuff in it. I think we where a bit over whelmed. Because we all ended up hanging outside an awful lot. Boaters, go figure.
It's the simple things we some times take for granted.
Merry Christmas !!

Diego style

Most of you know how to stay warm. This is how I do it. Besides the blood thinner. Propane heater 25 dalla. 2.95 a can. I don't turn it on unless things start turning blue.
Candles, amazing how they cut the chill. Slippy's and flannel. Put them all together and your one toastie, happy guy. Tricks to liven aboard.
Yes we draw on the carpet here. Why knot?

Just because Im bored

I'm still bouncing around and well.... Kinda bored. To tell you the truth the last 2 hours where great!! My daughters in town !! (power arm thingy). She was kidnapped and that's cool. It kinda sucks out here tonight anyway. He res another whooopie.. 15 knot shot of this morning. Sure wish I had camera battery's last week. Now that would have made Whooweeetube. And if you don't own rubber bottomed slippers your a weirdo. I left Jenny running while I biked to the airport. Yea I worried a bit. But all was well when I returned and now I don't have to listen to it. To risky? What do you think? On an other note maybe someone can tell me how to tag with out dragging up all the old shit. Whats with that huh? FBI CIA ? Are they watching? Neener neener if they are. Bet they wish they was me. Opps spilled again. Damn 15 knots

15 knots

It's only blowing 15 out, It feels like Im moving 5 knots. But nope I'm just tring to make coffee. Some times this is a real pain in the ol hole e o. Braa haha

Dec.21

Dec 21<>
Yesterday wasn't such a good day here in Diego, We had the X-mas parade of lights. A parade of boats all done up with their Christmas finery on. Beautiful indeed. Unfortunately a small boat was hit but a Coast Guard cutter. An 8 year old boy was killed and 6 others hurt. What a shame and my thoughts go out to all involved. http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/2009/dec/20/Child-dies-crash-SD-Bay-Xmas-parade/

It sure puts a damper on the water crew when bad things happen to good boaters.

Life as a guy

I keep up on a few blogs. I see post about food. Nice! love food. Can anyone tell me why guys can,t cook or dont think about cooking? I mean besides sex why are we here? All the yummy things in life right? So here's my dinner. Keep in mind, Clean up on a boat sucks. Here ya go food porn for the single guy.

Boil water add some stuff. Let simmer till kinda tender, add some more stuff, season to taste. Drag pot to table and eat.Easy huh?

Evening thought. Cheesie I know

So today after telling everyone how wonderful life is and get off your ass and enjoy it. And Bla Bla Bla. I figured I best put my money (penny's) where my mouth is. So I figured I'd go biking and see some sights. Well Burningman kinda did the ole 40 dalla bike in. First it was the wheel bearings, then the peddles wore right off. Well one of em anyway. Like I was just going in circles. Whoooa Hang on Biiiiiiiiiig Swellllllllls !!!! Wheeew nothing broke !! Ok where was I ? O yea the sunshiny hap hap happy day stuff.

Oh yea Bike So I'm thinking shitz I'm bumming I need a bike that will work and no one wants to steal. It's gota be just the right bike for just the right price. Like say, free! So Im dinking in the morning and a baybor friend of mine asks if I'd like to varnish her gunnel's. Hummm.. that sounds nasty. So I said heck yea. made 40! Went to swap meet bought a (last week) 65 dalla bike for 35!! And it's a real size fold in half kind with (most important) a shitty paint job !!! Perfect!! All I have to do is swap my Mary Poppins baskets and I'm in fat city. Did I mention it even has gears? I don't know how to use them yet but they tell me I can get to the store at warp speed now. And I still have 5 dolla's for some McChilliebobs, What a swell day!!

Here's a pic of one of my fav Baybors boat. Not only do I get to varnish I get to sail it too!!

All smiles here today.

Morning thought

Last week I was being blown all over and freezing (San Diego style) my ass of. Yesterday we where sailing in shorts and tee shirts again. On the downwind slide it was "hot". Even though San Diego is out of control expensive, it is worth it. And as we are learning the ways to get around all those San Diego cost it's working out even better.

It's amazing to see the change that is taking place here. A year or two ago you wouldn't or couldn't be seen in a car that was over 5 years old. The "auto spa's" where brimming with fresh new cars with owners sipping lattes. I'm seeing a really neat trend, older cars some even with scratches and dents. I mean really what do you need? It used to drive me up the freakin wall to see some folks parading around like they wear some kind of Shiek ala Stucco Palace. When ya knew damn well they where just maxed on credit cards and home equity loans.

I think this little resection thing is just what the doctor ordered. Get us back to whats important. It's not the flash of the past it's going out and enjoying some fresh air (free) some gentle breeze (free) some beautiful views (free) some good friend ship's (also free) and a few cold beers (huh well)

I'm not saying everyone needs to live in a little boat and ride a beater bike. Hey if going fast is your thing score a race car If climbing rocks in Zimbabwe is it by all means, go for it. Watching the telly sipping a latte is your gig by god go for it !! But do it cause that's what gives you wood and keeps you happy while on this planet ride. Don't do it for the flash or cause the Jones do it. And if at all possible stay out from under the thumbs of the banks and politicians. Because they will take your freedom. And we all know, no freedom = no wood.

Now go out there and do what makes you smile.

Note to self get camera battery's.
Also the kids coming to town !!!! Whoooo whooo I miss that lill gypsy.

CNN called

Seams the mass's have been missing my blogin.
So this is what's been going on. Humm not much really.... That work, ya know the big one? Well I guess the guy's wife file'd for divorce. So yea that's where that's at. In the mean time......I've been sailing and working on boats. Bummer huh? Beer and burrito money. When it comes down to it that's all you really need anyway so yea it's all good. Here's a few pics of Windley. Brother #2's boat. I say Brother # 2 cause he was born behind me and the other brother behind him than my sister. But that's another sailing story all it's own. They are all # 1's in my boat. These pics are from the Rum runners race. And the others are your's truly painting the inside of the Hans. Man I'd love to jump that boat and , well leave. Ha

Diego Burst

Been awhile, Tring to set up the ducket machine. In the mean time we had some really cool ass weather. Well I say that now. In my last post it was like whoooa!! This last Storm that rolled thru on Monday was like WHOOOAAA HOLLEY SHIT WHAT WAS THAT ?
I mean I'm so freakin glad I wasn't hanging on an anchor !! 4 boats drug out of the cruiser's anchorage and a 52 footer busted the mooring line here. I've heard tales of 45 to 120!!! knots. I'm holding to 60 - 80. It was blowing good. On my way in the next morning I counted 6 sunk dingy's the same ones I saw flying like kites the day before. A freind lost all his boat cleaning stuff and Mother Culture lost their wind genny.
On the Saturday prior My brother and I raced the Half pint rum regatta. You have to take off from anchor. Making it super fun cause you have to dodge the next fleet, get the anchor up and set sail all at the same time. I got an E mail from him saying we won!! Whoo whoo! where's my rum??!! I dig sailing his boat....oh wait a minute I don't think Ive ever blogged on my other brothers boat. It's a 1935 Lauder's L-16. He rebuilt it and has been having a blast bay sailing it and stacking up the trophy's. I can't believe I don't have a pic of it on my Lappy. You'll just have to trust me it's fun!!
In other news I guess we are supposed to have a real soaker come in for 3 days of 89% rain. Trust me again. That's a lot of rain for San Diego. Shit we don't know what rain is. So when it does come we make the Media go fruckin wild.
The last storm I ran a friend out to her boat we got drenched and swapped. I dropped her off then kept her dink tied to my boat for the night. There was no way in hell I was going back out in that stuff. But I also was out of food, beer, rum and smokes. Not this time my friends. I have set myself up nice and tidy. The lockers are full!! I'm ready for 40 days and 40 nights!! Shit I live on a boat bring it on!!
(I'm Kidden) Just in case Mother Nature reads blogs in her spare time.
But just watch it will be someone leaving the sprinklers on to long that makes this the mother of all storms!!! This my friends is ....San Diego... The "Whales Virgina"
I even went to the Library and got "Sailortown" by Stan Hugill
Sometimes I wonder if it's really sailing or the life style...or both ? Something to ponder for sure.
