Just cause
Yesterday I went back to the "Burbs". I have a responsibility to uphold my end of a bargain. So I built a river bed. Seams fair. Oh........ the American dream. Two cars and a house with two chickens in a pot and a mail box stuffed full of bill's. It is the way we are raised we can't help it we've been trained to consume. Any way it was cool to see the old neighbor's. As they give you that puzzled look. Like why would you move from "this"? O my god if ya don't know your not gona understand.
In other news Ive been making little heads for a fiesta, gathering, party, Oh I don't know what to call it. All I know is Ive been trying to get there for years. But my responsibility's have kept me from it. It's held in the desert outside of Reno Nevada. Last a week and you have to be totally self sufficient. It's called Burning man. You can't buy or sell anything and are pretty much stuck in the desert for a week with 50000 artist and other like minded people. Hence my little heads. Never go to a party empty handed. And once again I get that puzzled look!

By 10/40
Well after 3 years I retired parts of the ole 10/40. The bench I hit last weekend did her in. Bent the forks and a bent goose neck. Poor ole thing.
Welcome The Linzy. She's a 15 dollar model I picked up in Mission Valley from some retired beach folks. I took parts of the ole 10/40 blended together with The Linzy and badabingo! I'm a peddling fool again. I put what was left of the ole 10/40 on the walk with out a double chain. As an experiment less the 30 minutes she was stolen. I thought it would have been over an hour.
I hope they realized I didn't tighten the front tire before they knock their teeth out or something. Maybe I should have left a note.......heheheee ... hell no pay backs suck welcome to the A3 justice system.
Back to the love... The Linzy has fenders and all the extras I took off the 10/40 ie baskets and worn out cushy seat. And I saved the 40.00 front tire and peddles all the things that make a great bike great. So here hoping The Linzy becomes as good a friend as the ole 10/40 has been.
All I need now are some well placed meaningful stickers.

Sq. Inch's
As folks that live on small boats know it's not Sq. Ft. It's inch's. I woke this morning feeling kinda cramped up. Looking around I was like humm looks normal. But after further investigation. Yes there was a beer can 9 sq.in. and the laundry bag was out another 225 sq. in. An empty pizza box 144 sq.in. I think you get the picture. I live in hummm....23328 sq.in. That's around humm....yeup 162 sq.ft. Cough..whooa!! Lets count the dingy. That add's humm ......32 sq.ft or 4608 sq.in. To make a long story short the dink is gona carry out about 600 sq.in. of junk that has gathered up.
People on boats are always giving stuff away.. Hey dude ya want this.....huh nah, thanks .. how bout this ....only 7 sq.in.'s!! Hummm let me think about it...
My house was about 2000 sq.ft. that's a whole bunch of inch's. And it was packed!! Talk about a life change. Amazing how much stuff ya really don't need.
You would think with less Sq.In.'s it would be easier to keep clean. Well one missed placed pot or plate and whamo it's a mess!!
I love it!! Talk about going green, off the grid ,tiny foot prints and all that stuff. G's the world doesn't even know I'm here. Well in a way I'm not even on the earth so that's even more space for folks on land. Wow I feel good doing all this for humanity!! Nah it's a selfish act and I know it. I'm the Dictator of my Island!!
Just kidden.... the "Dictator" has to go do laundry and fold it really tight......Sq.in's. ya know.

Racing sucks
My whole family sails. 3 brothers and a sister,"poor thing" any ways my other brother rebuilt a 1935 Ludders. He has been kicking butt racing that thing to the ground. I love it. Full keel and just feels old school. So this weekend was the Commodore's cup . It started at noon so we left the slip at 10. to makes sure we made it on time "no motor". On the way out we saw our nemeses. The other Ludder and our arched enemy. The competition gets crazy with this stuff. They where ahead of us. And we where running late. Neither one of us where going to make the start on time. Ha yea like that mattered. We watched to see what they where gona do, sure nuff off they went thinking we'd just bail maybe. Na.... not us. So we start maybe 5 minute behind.
By the way it was a perfect sailing day in San Diego. That made it a bit easier. We chased and chased and chased. Made some good ground on the up hill gained a bit more on the spinney run then neck and neck to the second to last mark. We took the lead. It was a drag race down the San Diego bay channel. I mean tuning every three seconds!! There it was the last mark maybe two boat lengths ahead we had it !!! Yea !!! " we are NOT going to all tore course" said the damn 100 ft. Bait Boat. Shit!! We had it and had to round back around a 360 and pow! They where ahead 200 ft the the finish. Oh my we pushed that little boat so hard but missed it buy half a boat length. High fives on the other boat and the gentle sound of beer cans in ours. Some days ya just can't win. But in a weird way we did anyway. I mean what the hell we where sailing.

A few things
I love sailing and truly enjoy San Diego. So it makes sense to live on a boat in San Diego right?
I'm also thrifty and trying to save as much $ as possible. This means I'm in the cheapest place I can find. Kinda like a floating trailer park. I love it! Every day there is something new cause most folks out here don't work. The old "Idle hands are the Devils work shop" scenario. It's a freak'n crack up. Yesterday Bruce Lee was walkin down the boardwalk with out his pants on. Myself and a friend let him know he forgot something. But he was alright with it. 5 Minutes later a SD Police car is on track to remind Bruce about his pants also. Alas he was to late, for a tourist not being accustomed to nakedness crashed through a fire hydrant then a tree. Causing a new water park. The poor cop couldn't chase Bruce down now and had to defer to the crash. Bruce mean time just kinda waddled along enjoying another beautiful day. My friend and I found an extra pair of shorts for Mr Lee. The Fire Dept turned off the water show and all was back to "normal" with in and hour. Ya just have to love living in the circus. If your ever bored just hit the boardwalk. We call it the wall and watch the show. Cheep entertainment for sure.

All Vans are cool
Yea I know it's closing time in the ole SD. Yea I could sail in and bike to town collect a few specimens for research. But no, I thought I'd tell ya about some of my shoe stories instead. Well not all of them just one. Ya see Me and the incredible Mrs.Me lived up in the Northern Cal area for along time. Loved it by the way. Anyway I used to surf up there ,yea cold, big and lonely. We used to call our old surf buddy's "chum" . Anyway they where pouring concrete on the Humboldt jetty's one day and I thought it would be cool to stuff my worn out Palm TreeVans in the fresh mud. It was a huge day breaking over both sides of the jetty's. I had to hide under the ledge as the waves where breaking. It was great! The trucks pulled out cause it was to gnarly. As I slipped into the concrete they poured it was like holly shit shoes don't fail me now! I planted em deep. And slipped out running for my life. Yes they are still there. Neat huh ? That was a 400 years ago. Anyway today I blew a fat load and scored a fresh pair. My latest pair, well should be burned to tell the truth. No they are not worthy of the jetty or Swinging bridge or the Island barge, But they did save my pez from something somewhere I'm sure. Tomorrow they swim. All good deeds and all that.
vista's
Adam from RITA and I went for a surf . No I didnt think of takin pics. Not till we where on our way back. We anchored in Glorieta bay and dinked in, surfed, and had some fun. Then headed back. I tell ya San diego from any angle is just beutifull. Unless you just crashed your bike at Market and 6th street
