flock of ha ha's
I rode the old bike up to my brothers place today in Point Loma. Had a great Red sails breakfast then paddled our bike's down to Shelter Island for the Baja Ha Kick off. WOW!! that was great to see all those folks and their boats heading off to adventures unknown. 200 boats all pilled up at Shelter Island. Fruckin beautiful. Every one of them looking forward to the unknown. And what a day it was . No wind but all those stoked people leaving this all behind. Brought a tear to my eye. Ive never done the Ha ha. Ive always just kind sailed willey nilley. It would be cool to have that many friends sailing along with you. My brother took pics some day I might get copy's I'll share them. When they come in.

Flock of minnow's
I've been hanging low and going slow this week. Have a new and rather large job we are looking at. So in the mean time, I figure lay low go slow cause ya never know. Oops I'm a poet. Any way Ive just been riding the bike did a harbor sail cleaned the dink ...again. Oh yea kinda sold, gave, away the little Sabby to Super Kid. In the mean time I have an aquarium in my back yard. Not that I really have a back yard. But I do have a bit of water so I thought I'd make friends with the sea life. I cleaned off my everything bagel crumbs off only to see the minnow's going freaking nuts. Neat ! So I grabbed some bread and whoaa those little suckers must be starved cause they went crazy. DO NOT FALL ASLEEP IN THE WATER HERE. So like any curious boat guy would do I chucked in a whole bread slice. OMG!!! They where all over it! Some of them even jumped up on top of the thing!! Not good if you don't want to get eaten by seagulls. Shit I spent at least 2 hours feeding those crazy little piranha's. You have to get it right. Press the air out so it sinks a bit bellow the surface so the gulls don't grab and go. Throw it up current so you can still watch and keep your hand and fingers inside the ride at all times. Now when I go on deck it's like I have a zillion little puppy dogs looking up at me wanting their treat's. I feel like King Neptune only not as fishy. Oh yea and where there is little fish there is big fish. Sure as hell the big guys showed up. My little troop of killer minnow's could have cared less they just kept charging. So they lost a few amigos they where mighty crumb eating warriors. I feel safe knowing I have a flock of killer crumb eating piranhas living under me.I'm so proud!!
So yea I need to get a life. What did you do today?

My Heros
The Coasties have their base right next to us. I love those guys. Luckily I have never needed them. Yet. Knock on wood. Those guys do amazing work saving so many folks with out much fan fair. Well here at the ole allcsyachtclub think they are the BEST!. And we get to watch them practice sometimes too. The copper pilots are just freakin Gnarly! They will hover and let guys jump out then blast away circle around and hover straight on top of them. I have know idea how they can hold that big ass chunk of metal in the air like that. Then some times guys will be all hanging from rope ladders dangling from the chopper sheesh talk about control. I'm stoked those boys are around because I know if I ever need them they will be there.
In San Diego we have the Navy, more hero's. Although I only get to see them from across they bay and watch as they leave for deployment. Off to some foreign sea to protect the waters from what ever. Sometimes you'll see what I think are Navy seal guys swimming around the mooring field at night all sneaky and stuff. I think they are pretending to be planting bombs on the bottom of our boats or some thing. But it it's amazing and sooo stealthy!!
We also have homeland security and customs. They scare the shit out of me. Not that I'm doing anything wrong they are just some freaking scary guys !!! Fast boats, big guns, ski masks freakin scary. I'm glad they are on our side.
Last but not least is the San Diego Harbor patrol. I've met a few of them. Sure they are a bit uptight. I would be to having to deal with people the likes of me all the time. I'd be all G's Us what fuckin now?
Yea we have it all here in San Diego. Very intimidating if your a little boater guy just sailing around. But if your a smuggler, terrorist or just some AholieO your doomed !!!

Bumps in the night
One would think being on a boat at night, that silence is a big no, HUGE part of it. And one normally would be right. Ive been in deserted coves in Mexico where I could actually hear the barnacles feeding on the bottom paint and my beard growing. Boats are alive. Yes I know that sounds scary but it's true. A little crrrrreeeeek whoop here and a ding ding click there. A little olive oil here and a few well places shim's there and you get , for the most part your boat to hush up a bit. Unless the winds blowing over 10 knots then forget it. She'll come alive again with halyards slapping, canvas shaking and that ever romantic slapping of the hull. I like those sounds actually love em makes for great sleeping.
Last night I had a dream we where being attacked. It was calm as calm can be. Look it up in the dictionary and you'll find a picture of Liddy sitting in such calmness. Yet when it's that calm there is no strain at all on anything. Whooomp!! The mooring balls bouncing off the bow. Thud thud........thhuud. The dingys bouncing off the stern. And na it's not a mellow trance reggae beat it's completely random. Like they have a spy on board......
"Ready?"
"Nah he's still up"
"Ok let me know"
"Should we do the dink or the ball first"
"Lets start with the dink then build to the ball"
"Yea man that'll get him up"
"Sheesss he's crawlin into the bunk, get ready"
Thump...thuuump...thumpthump
"The ball ?"
"Nah hit him with the dink again"
Thuudthump.....thuuuump...tapthump"
"Hahaha hahaaha now the bow! "
WOOOOMP WHOOOOMP Woomp"
"HAhahaHAHHAAH that got him"
"Sheeessh he's coming"
....silence......
"Ready?
"Wait for it...wait for it..... ok the bow"
Whooomp...whooomp..whoooaoomp.
"HahHAAHAA I could do this all night!"
" Yea HahahHAH hey maybe we should call Mani see if he wants to creak the tiller?"
And that my friends was the gentle sounds of my night last night. Except for the part where I tripped over the computers cord on my way out to catch those guys.

Im a swinger
Summer's coming to an end and well the waters become a bit livelier. When you live on the hook or mooring as I am now the view changes every second. One minute your looking at one boat then your looking at a different boat, then the wall ,then this, then that. It's neat, I like it. This morning I woke to a constant roll and swing. It's not gnarly out just alive the winds been going all night so the sea's in the harbor are moving quite well. Like I have to hold on to my coffee pot.
A few days ago all the animals jumped ship. I think it was the earthquake or the tsunami. In any event I saved a little pup that had bailed from it's boat. The owners brought me a bottle of Sailor Jerry's as a reward. That was nice of them even though anyone of us would have done the same thing. I mean who's gonna just dink past a drowning dog and not give him a hand?
So last night I got into it a bit, then some friends called and we got into even deeper. That may explain this swinging feeling I'm now having.
Some tiimes the night before explains the here and now!
